De Los Santos - My Favourite Restaurant

Ok, Big call but it's true, De Los Santos is my favourite restaurant in the city. If people visiting Melbourne ask me to recommend a restaurant this is always the one I think of. I have been here many times before, and even had my birthday here one year, but it's been awhile and since I am yet to blog about it thought that was reason enough to go back.

It is a small but incredibly charming Spanish restaurant located on Brunswick St in Fitzroy. The owner Vicki and her husband have done a great job at making this place seriously one of the best Spanish restaurants in Melbourne. The menu consists largely of tapas and Paella. The drinks also include the staples such as good wines, beers, sangria and mojitos. Dessert menu is small but ofcourse includes churros. They also have live music, and if I'm not wrong, flamenco dancers every couple of weeks.

The room is small but everytime I eat there I am always finding myself looking at the details of the room. The impressive stone walls, the red door. Even outside it looks charming, situated on the corner of the block the building has a sense of history to it.

The most important part of the restuarant is ofcourse the edibles and the service. Service is friendly and fast and the food is incredible. The paella is cooked to perfection and the large range of tapas always make my mouth water. Some of my favourites include:

Meat Paella (the best paella I have tasted!):

Lamb ribs (mouth watering!):

Calamari (so lightly coated and salty - so good!)

Let's not go past the sangria. Honestly, it is hard to find good sangria that is made properly and isn't watered down. Needless to say, here it is made strong and incredibly delicious!

You can find their website here: www.delossantos.com.au/

If you have planning a special occasion for a group, I really recommend it. Vicki put together an array of tapas, paella and dessert for my birthday a couple of years ago. It was such great value and gave everybody a chance to taste a variety of spanish dishes.
