Virginia Plain

Virginia Plain is a relatively new establishment in the city. It's an warehouse converted into restaurant space, meaning there is lots of space, high ceilings and room for a very long bar, which is one of the eye-catching features in the place. Great for dinner or after work drinks its a versatile space. Its elegant but casual and laid back. The decor is modern with a touch of vintage (I sound like Gabriel Union's character in "think like a man" - great movie if you haven't seen it)

Team the space, with the friendly staff, good food, and excellent music played from authentic vinyl (by a wonderful DJ by the name of Neil) and you have a winner. The drinks range is great too, my boyfriend loves Brooklyn lager so was happy to find it on the menu here.

Portion sizes vary depending on the menu option, but everything was tasty none-the-less. The wagyu was a little tough to cut without a steak knife, but that's probably only for me since I'm used to using Steak knives at home for cutting literally everything. A minor blip in an otherwise wonderful establishment. I'm told the owners are on the hunt through South America looking for a range of unique steak knives. I'm interested to see how this one pans out. I'm imagining the look on the customs officers face when he puts that guys suitcase through a scanner and sees 150 knives in the guys luggage!
Hmmm....
